Glow plug lite only goes on after 3rd try
 

I have an 87 300D. The glow plug warming lamp only illuminates after the third atempt of insurting the ignition key and turning it to the second click.

Any suggestions on what may be wrong? I replaced the fuses and am currently charging the battery.

I'd suggest you post this on the Diesel Discussion section of this site. Also, if you haven't done a search of the site, you might want to do so -- it's pretty user friendly and this issue may have been addressed before.

You have a bad glow plug(s), so the light doesn't come on. If it blinks after starting, you only have one bad one. No light at all is more than one.

Bad fuse on the GP relay (left fender) may do the same thing, but it won't start at all will no glow plugs.
