Battery charge light
i have a 1996 e320............ The battery charge light has started to come on ...........car starts fine .............that beeping is annoying is this a battery problem or what

Usually it means the alternator is no longer charging the battery at the required rate. I don't know your engine but it could be a belt needing tightening or the alt itself could be in need of refurbishment.

Probably need a new voltage regulator in the alternator, the brushes are worn off. If you get a dim glow on the alternator light at night, this is it for sure.
