OM617 Part ID: Lift Pump?
Is this the 'lift pump' or mechanical fuel pump?
Fastlane lists it as the primer pump assembly. But looking at the part, it appears that it is the fuel pump.

Either term works for me, but I prefer to cal it the feed pump.
It is the pump that moves the fuel from the tank to the pump cavity.

What's the cost? The primer pump, by iteself, is about $20. The fuel pump, with the primer pump, as shown in the photo, would be considerably more. |

Cost is $150.56. So yes it is significantly more expensive. I wish I could get one locally. My wifes car is leaking fuel severely from the pump. It very well may just be a gasket. I guess I won't know for sure till I yank it and take a closer look.

If you have the old style primer pump, my bet is that the primer pump is what is leaking. |

It does have the original primer pump on it. However, from the looks of it, the leak is actually on the bottom of the assembly not where the primer pump screws in.
The top of the assembly is dry, but there is fuel.. well mostly WVO all over the place underneath of it. Which would lead me to believe that its not the primer pump thats leaking. Perhaps I'll try swapping just the primer pump out and see. But then I'll have an extra primer pump if I need to swap out the whole assembly.

Perhaps I should just order the gasket and a new primer pump. Then take the lift pump from my garage queen. (I still refuse to call it a parts car, although due to the parts I've stolen off it its no longer driveable.) That way I'll at least be able to get the car back on the road the same day. And if I need a lift pump, I can wait for it to arrive. I just hate doing a job twice. Or in this case it would be 3 times. Since if I needed new lift pump, the new one would go on the car thats being driven every day and not my 'parked car'.

If you order the gasket, you probably could have it in two days. Unless the leak is just abysmal, you probably could drive it for another two days until the gasket arrives. Would prevent doing the job twice. We all hate that.
