190E double gasket?
Hello all.
After a major mixing of engine oil in my coolant, and a throughful examination of the head, my mechanic has discarded that is is cracked. He has supposedly been told by a Mercedes dealer that my car (190E 2.3 8v, 1992) has a kind of "double" head gasket, and one of the gaskets tends to deteriorate with time, and he has checked that it was effectively in very bad conditions. So they only have to change it and clean all the cooling system, that is contaminated with a lot of engine oil. Do you know something about this or is it a fairy tale? Thanks! |

oil
i know what they say about the contamination is probably true, the other i cannot believe. most gaskets do have more than one layer. what ever the out come make sure they either use an original gasket or an elring brand.

The 1991 to 93 190E 2.3 8V's did have somewhat of a head gasket leakage problem at cylinder #4. They do mix oil+water at that point.
NO such thing as a double headgasket!! THAT engine does use 2 intake gaskets as there is a electric heater between the head & intake.

All of them have that problem? I suppose that's a problem that is developed with time, right?
