97 SL-320 soft-top problem

I've noticed the rear top edges of the top are rubbing against the plastic windows every time the top comes down. Is there a fix for this. Also some part of the top pushes in on the small side windows and may soon wear/punch thru them. Any suggestion welcome. Also looking for a source for a bra and headlight (thick plastic covers for guard against stones)covers. Thanks, Ron

Ron.. You will find this is normal. Some owners place a terrycloth towel around the window, but this is a royal pain. Some owners only do this while storing the soft top while the hardtop is installed.

To me, the soft top is a wear item, akin to tires. You have to budget for a replacement top every 7 years (more or less) of service. Of course, on the R129 the rear portion of the soft top can be replaced independently of the front portion. Some owners have removed the rear portion, have the windows replaced, then the original rear portion with replaced windows re-installed.

There are many instances of this appearing in the list archives.
