HELP Keys Locked in car :(

This morning while working on my son's 93 400e, the doors mysteriously locked when I closed the door – without any help from ME! I had left the keys on the interior console after opening the hood of the car and shutting the driver’s door. I called him and his other set of keys is also in the car.

He told me his 400e will sometimes just locks without any help, which is a problem I’ll deal with later.

Is there any way to gain entry into a 93 400e (w124)? I have the hood open, but all the doors and trunk are locked.

The doors appear to tight for a coat hanger.

Call Mercedes Roadside Assistance

Call Mercedes Roadside Assistance at 1-800-367-6372. Maybe they'll open your car for free! :beerchug:

Thanks for the phone number. I called MBUSA and they called a MB tech in our area who said "he can not open the doors," but the tech gave MBUSA the phone number of a locksmith who said can open the doors. It won't be free, but that's okay if he can open the doors.

MBUSA rep was VERY nice and helpful. MBUSA told me they will jump start your MB, give assistance if you run out of gas, and a few other items - for free no matter how old your cars is.

Well, you'll never believe it, but the "locksmith" was at a loss on how to open the door. Since his manual showed he would have to go in through the window molding and fish the knob open, I decided to pass - especially since he was concerned he would damage the paint. The doors on the E Class are fitted VERY tight.

With proof of ownership you can order a new key at the dealership for about $25 to $30 usually. I've actually had the key arrive in less than 24 hours but normally it would be more like 48 hours.

Just an idea....Does the vaccum locking system not run through the engine bay. If you said the hood is popped up...you could figure out which line to blow or suck on and problem solved...

The pump is under the rear seat on that car, no lines under the hood.

Oh, yea, get a new key

Yea, if you're not in a hurry, getting a new key from a Mercedes Dealer would do the trickk. Take in your registration, and they'll get you a key in about 2 days.... ;)
