96 C220 remote eating batteries

My '96 C220's remote has started "eating" batteries. They go dead after 3 or 4 days.

Do I need a new remote? My guess is there is obviously a short somewhere and if that is the case can it be fixed?

TIA,

JHawk

Sounds like it is stuck > full-on

might try clicking and unclicking at your car and ascertain whether it is turning off
