Engine Shut Down @ highway speeds
 

Can the remote door lock cause engine shut down while driving on my 96 E300? Here is what happens most of the time, driving at any speed engine shuts off tach goes to 0 and engine will not restart until the car is locked and unlocked with remote. It will spin over but no start I know it sounds weird and is probably something else but it puzzles me that most of the time we have to lock and unlock the doors. The red and green lights flash on and off too. Any insights will be appreciated. the only codes I get are injector circuit failure. :confused:

I had a similar problem with my 1998 E320. My car shut down while on the highway also. I pulled over and tried to re-start. After about 5 to 10 minutes the car started. I drove directly to the MD dealer where they re-programed the engine computer. I started the car and drove approximately one half mile from the dealer and the car shut down and could not be re-started. I had it towed back to the dealer and they could not get it started.It just kept cranking but would not start. Finally they replaced the engine crank position sensor and all is well. Not sure if you have the same problem but maybe this is a place to start.
