Rear Window Defroster 124
 

Rear window elements do not defog rear window though switch light is on. I've searched in length for information regarding how to access connectors for rear window element and there is no information on how to remove rear post panels to expose terminals. :rolleyes: I tried prying rear panels off this morning with a putty knife with no results. There is no relay in trunk that I can see, where is relay located and how is it accessed? This is a '95 E300. These cars seem to have a lot of electrical issues

The rear window de-fogger is powered thru a "combination: relay in the rear section of the fuse box. That relay also does blinkers/hazard/wipers.

It appears on my 124 you should find wire contacts for the eliments behind the right and left panels between rear window and upper rear door windows.

To save from removing those panels, just a guess, but I would remove the rear seat bottom and look to find a wire harness on both sides leading up to and behind these panels. If there is, I would tap these wires to see if you have voltage while switching rear defrost on and off! It may tell you something, and then again maybe not! My bet is that someting elsewhere is amiss!
