heat & smell from under windows switches central panel 260E

I am experiencing heat coming from under central console on the right side from a driver sit where windows switches located on the high speed on a highway. It is not electrical smell but smell of the heated electrical plastic isolation. The floor’s so heat up that the electrical wires that are lying on the floor start to welt and smell.
What is located under the switches panel? Is it exhaust pipe? Catalic converter? Does it mean they had gone bad? Or, exhaust is not installed properly and it is touching the floor?
Tnx.
