Outside Temp Celsius to Fahrenheit

On my 1989 300TE, how can I change the outside air temp indicator to read Fahrenheit instead of Celsius? Is this possible? Thanks in advance.

You'd think it would be easy, especially since the LCD display is microprocessor controlled and usually such chips have jumper circuits . . . but after taking one apart, identifying the processor and then tracking down the circuit specs, I found that there's no indication that the unit can be hacked to alter the display. You'll have to convert the later model units (2 wire versus 3 wire) to get the different readout.
