Does anyone have an Access or Excell template for logging car maintence ?
 

Have any of you developed a template for car maint. logging which you would be willing to talk about or share?
Perhaps there is a commercial program which you could recommend for the MB enthusist?

I have been using a spreadsheet for the last two years. It is simple but gets the job done.
Sheet 1 I enter Date, Mileage, Gallons, Cost
It gives MPG, Average MPG, Cost/Gal, Cost/Mile
I then enter any notes (Brand of fuel, octaine, etc)

Sheet 2
I enter repair cost, maintaince, etc

Sheet 3 gives total fuel used, total maintaince, etc

I see that there have been 36 downloads of my spreadsheet but no one has replied with any feedback. I was hoping some one could suggest ways to make it better.
What do any of you think? :)

I think it is very useful-and well done Paul.
I am not very familiar with Excel but I wonder if it would be possible to add service intervals from the manual to alert you if a particular fluid change was due either by year or mileage? Perhaps that is overkill though.

Microsoft Works has some great templates. I modified the Vehicle Maintenance one to show "things I wanted to fix in the near future" with prices of parts etc.

I have WorksSuites and go to Tasks+Vehicle Data+Vehicle Logs

there you have 4 choices: Vehicle Details; Maintenance Checklist; Repair Log; Road Trip Log;

all formulas are there if adding figures etc is needed

My MSWorks is an old program, don't know if newer ones have same templates for vehicles.

I am taking a look at it this evening and will see what I can do with it to dress it up and/or add some things!

I don't think it needs much!

The best to do would be to assemble it so that it fits easily into a PDA so that entries can be done on the fly!

Documents to Go from Dataviz will synchronize all your Word and Excel documents to a Palm. Very handy. You'll obviously want to keep the spreadsheets fairly simple though.

Your correct about DataViz. I have used it for a long time and it works well for something like this!

I have worked up a simple maintaince program using Excel. While doing it I realized that a lot of it personal preference such as I change my oil every 3000 miles because my car sees severe duty. I only drive about 1.5 miles to work and 1.5 miles home. Sometimes the car may be driven more and sometimes I may drive it 1000 miles over a long weekend.
SO here is my version. If someone would want different items or miles or time let me know and I will make the modifications and send it to you.
The spreadsheet is easy to use, just inter the current mileage in the first line (in the block).
Now enter the dates (such as 12\9\04) and mileage for each of the services. You can get these dates and mileages from your records of your last service for that item and then just change the date and mileage when the service is done the next time. Now any time you want to check to see if a service is due, enter the current mileage at the top of the page and it will show how many days or miles until the service is due again. Items that are preformed by mileage are shown as how many miles until it is due again. Items done by time (such as Change Brake Fluid every 2 Years) are shown as how many days until due again.
