380sl Trim Adhesive/Sealer
 

I am removing all the exterior trim on my 1985 Mercedes 380sl prior to having it painted. Some trim screws had a white flexible material on them which probably acted as a sealer to prevent leakage. The hood badge was glued on with a black material that looks like sticky tar. The spoiler had a solid black flexible substance around each mounting hole on the truck lid. These are rather like damns to prevent moisture from seeping under the spoiler and into the trunk. It does not provide adhesion. Can anyone tell me what type of adhesives/sealers I am dealing with and where I can purchase some? Thanks
