Advice on bearing repairs

I recently bought a 1966 230s which I will be picking up soon. The interior and body are very good, but the seller was told by a mechanic that it needs new bearings because it has a slight noise from the engine.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to replace the bearings by going up through the oil pan, to avoid removing the engine? I read somewhere that this was possible on some older MBs.

It would be a benefit if I could have the car mobile during a complete restoration.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
