Thanks for all the help everyone!
I guess mostly people can tell that if this idea gets done, it won't be done by me. I've had about four offers from mechanics already. That's pretty funny I think. Apparently I won't be fooling anyone here either. I'm in Northern Alberta, the day time high has been between -20 and -30 C for the better part of a week. We're a long way from civilization, but we have great farm land and a trillion barrels of oil. And looking what's happened in the middle east, its a good thing the US already controls our oil! (For you end-of-oil people, you're probably okay, unless we run out of water or drilling mud or something). So we have tons of resources but not much for tired-out convertibles. I figure this really is going to come down to finding the right dead car, then hanging the engine somewhere near the car. I cannot imagine the cost of bringing two dead vehicles here. Similarily, I sure like the 86, but if an 87 is available...It comes down to waiting for the exact car or getting something close. The choice between SEC/SL will hinge the same. Whatever. Maybe I'll get hit by a bus first. Who knows. But this is the thing. I am wondering about injectors now. People seem to laud the five cylinder with mechanical injectors for its alt-fuel performance, but I'm wondering, if we hang a six cylinder, does that have inheirent flaws somehow? Do they both have the same mechanical injectors or is the six different? lance on the web at http://www.thompsonvalley.com |
