Which brakes?
I would like to get a set of good brake pads/rotors. what brands are the best?
Preferably the ones that dont sqeal :D |
Try a search - there's a wealth of information, no shortage of opinions whatsoever.

Try calling Phil or Fastlane they will set you up with a nice set!

My research concluded 2 viable choices:
Stock OE Textar Yellow Box pads + Balo Rotors |
Use stock OE pads and rotors because not much different between the price on OE or OEM brake parts.

how about brembo?
:juggle2: |
I always use Balo rotors, Pagid or Textar pads, and get good life (30,000 plus on fronts) and never any noise, wonderful brakes.
DO NOT use MetalMasters (except maybe the newer "soft" ones) if you don't want squeals. Clean the slots where the pads go completely, and use some antiseize on the parts of the caliper where the backing plate touches (none on the friction material, please!). Use some coarse sandpaper to remove the machining marks on the new rotors, this does a lot to prevent groaning brakes. Peter |
Anectdotal but I've always heard Balos are a cut above Brembo.

As deanyel said, there is no shortage of information or opinions. I love my Porterfield R4S pads. www.porterfield-brakes.com They're pricey, but I felt a difference. They should last a good long time as well, being made from carbon fibre and kevlar.

I currently have textar pads with ATE power discs all the way around. (regualar ATE's in the rear) They have tons of bite and make no noise. Not to mention the power discs look cool behind my wheels. But they throw tons of dust!!! I have never seen a car throw so much dust. After I drive a few miles I can write my name on my wheels. I am not hard on my brakes and expect to get 20k-30k out of my front pads, I do 50/50 city highway driving.
Next time around I will try to get lower dust pads, if you have a nice set of aftermarket wheels get a low dust pad. I have to clean my wheels at least every other day so they don't turn black. |
