Ive seen the same thing Carson is talking about, I'm not sure if the circuitry is like this on a 210 or not, it may be. MORE than likely it's the coolant level sensor. But another weird thing I've seen (and you really really need to dig to find this out) but the low coolant level light can also be signalling a failure of the radiator (electric) fan. I think on a 2000 it has just the one suction fan beteeen the engine and radiator.

My coolant light came on a few times in very cold weather after the car had been parked overnight. I bought the MB coolant. The owner's manual said that I should fill to the black top of the coolant reservoir when the coolant is cold. I assume the maximum level is the LOWEST part of the black top. Can someone confirm that? Why can't MB put minimum and maximum marks like other cars?

Yes, the proper level is the seam between the black and the opaque part. Actually there should be some type of arrow cast into the black upper half indicating the cold level line.

My sensor was always on, I just uplugged it, I open my hood enough to use manual level checking.

Not quite that simple with this particular series, Jim.
