Mercedes Power windows

Hi All,

I just purchased a 1973 Mercedes 280 sedan with the dual cam inline six cylinder. I'm having trouble with the power windows and can find any literature at all on them. Even the shop manual has nothing about them.

Any suggestions?

Maybe something from the following site might be useful:

http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/Service/Library.html

Bear in mind that it is not complete. Construction still in progress.

Nice picture lino!

Thanks for the link however the 114/115 is the model I have and for some reason, there is nothing at that button. My cursor won't even display the little hand when I put my cursor on top of it. The others work fine.

Do you have another link possibly?

Thanks for your help.

The design and operating characteristics of MB power windows has been very consistent throughout the 70's and 80's. What exactly is the problem(s) you are having? Do a search here and you will probably find lots of relevent threads. Most issues are either mechanical or electrical, and given the age of your 280, probably a heaping helping of both. Also, I believe Haynes would have a manual that would cover your chassis/engine group (but likely might only have procedures for removing and replacing assemblies and major parts)

Well,...if it isn't the wiring, its usually either the large half-moonish shaped gear that is part of the regulator*, or the regulator arms them selves.

Once you are sure it isn't the wiring, you are going to have to take off the door panel (carefully). Any problems ought to reveal themselves at that time.

* do a search in fastlane for your model's regulator for reference.

I do realize that the 114/115 portion is not up yet. The site is under construction. I thought maybe that you can learn from the other chassis cars. Wish I could help more. Glad you like the pic
