Unlocked door , car starts ? 88 300CE
My wife was out shopping today and came out to the car after being parked for 1 1/2 hours.She unlocked the driver's door and as she was walking to the trunk the car started. The key was in her hand ?!?
 . She put the key in and turned it to the run position and then turned it off , it kept running so she put it back to the run position and left. She called me when she got to her next stop and it wouldn't shut off. She left the key in the off position and after ten minutes or so it shutoff on it's own.She turned the key and it started and shutoff normally. I know the car has had a few electrical gremlins before but this one was a little bit wierd.Any idea where to start troubleshooting? TIA

|
A "few electrical gremlins" might be the understatement of the year. Reminds of the time I had the kitchen disposal working from the garage light switch. Sorry, I don't have a clue but this is going to be interesting to watch.

 It doesnt have a remote start by any chance which may be screwing up?

My car has a clifford alarm system/remote starter, cut-off switch and led scanner system and I have never experienced that kind of a problem before. That's weird. What kind of condition is the key in? Does it look worn? What is the mileage on your car?
