Engine miss consistant with jump in gas guage needle
My 300E has developed a miss both at idle and acceleration. The miss is inconsistant in that it will continue during a complete trip yet at another time the miss will be absent from other trips. When the engine is missing the needle of the gas guage will jump back and forth for a distance of about 3/8 of an inch.
Could this have something to do with the overvoltage protection relay? Regards to all and have a season of peace and joy. :) |
Any old timers who have seen this before?

Could this miss be caused by the OVP relay?
|
That or a bad alternator or battery connection, you have a considerable voltage flucutation, caused either by the charging system spiking too high (and OVP dropping off) or by a bad OVP switching in and out.
I'd check the charging system first, and if it's OK, replace the OVP. Peter |
Thank you Peter... sounds to me like you hit the nail square on the head.
I'll check as you suggest. :) |
