slk rubbing noise

I am not sure if anyone has ideas for this one. My car recently is making a rubbing feeling, comming from the front end. My brakes work fine. my steering is fine, my allingement is fine. my tires are only 9 months old. my transmittion shifts fine. it is hard to describe it, it also makes a low sound... could it be a transmittion link needed to be replaced or something...? it is a slk 1998 with 99000 miles on it. I just replaced the rotors and front pads about 300 miles ago. and the brakes are fine.

i have a C230 which is the same basic chassis.

you need to be more descriptive, noise same with brakes on or off.

noise goes away when shifted into neutral, does it happen in reverse?

when someone is outside the car when you drive by, can they hear it

actually there is no noise, it is a vibration feeling comming from the front end. when I am on the highway it goes away. at slow speeds I can feel it. there is no noise inside or outside the car. the front brakes are strong. I thought it was them going bad so I replaced the rotors and pads but still have the same feeling, before I felt when using the brakes, now i feel when using and not useing the brakes. in reverse it isn't present either.

do you feel the vibration in the steerng wheel or in the seats?

1) some tires after they are stationary for a time need a couple of miles to regain roundness, does your car have Continental tires?

2) could be a balance problem- if you feel the vibration in the steering wheel. If you decide to have your cars tires balanced, if you can clean the inner rims of the wheel before the balance.

3) toe setting on the front suspension? a good tech on a lift can check front ball joints, flex disc, sway bar mounts etc..

Thanks for the info, I will have a tech chk it out, I have no vibration on the steering wheel, maybe it is the toe setting on the front suspension, front ball joints, flex disc, sway bar mounts etc today I pressed the brakes firmly at a light, and that might of done something... all symptoms are gone??? time will tell. Thanks again!

I brought it in to mechanic, and it was the tires. Continentals... only 8 months old... Thanks for your help. I thought people might be interested in what it was.
