126 chassis rear camber adjustment
 

Hello,

Anyone have information on rear camber adjustment kit for 85 500 SEC? Car has H & R sport springs (1.4 inch drop f and r) installed but has too much negative camber in rear. Also, another website mentioned that Jeff aka speedy benz on this site has info on this topic. Anyone know or heard of Jeff?

There is no rear camber adjustment available from the factory.

Do you have excessive tire wear? If not leave it alone otherwise look for a Kmac camber kit which is a set of eccentric bushes.

Yes, tire wear is excessive. Car is rolling on staggered 18 inch AMG five spokes. I found the K-Mac website and they do have a kit for the car. How easy or difficult was it to install the kit on your car?

The Kmac kit is the only option available.

It is a set of offset bushes for the lower control arms. The kit comes with a set of bushes for the inside and outside of the arms however you actually only need to fit them to the outside of the arms as there is sufficient adjustment with only one set fitted.

To fit the kit you need to drop the subframe to be able to remove the lower control arms as the inner bolts for the control arms are not accessible with the subframe fitted to the car.

I would allow about 8 hours labour to remove the subframe and lower arms, press out the old bushes, press in the new bushes, refit the arms to the subframe and refit the assembly. Perform an initial alignment and then outwork it for a proper alignment.

Make sure that you talk to an alignment shop before fitting the kit and ensure they are able to do the alignment and are familiar with this sort of suspension setup. You don't want to get it fitted and then have difficulty finding someone who will align it.

I had the full kit fitted and had issues with the left to right level of the vehicle. The camber was perfect but the left side of the car was lower than the right. It took me a few alignment shops before I found someone who was comfortable with this level of adjustment.

MB has always offered the same style offset rear control arm bushings. They will allow for less than 0.5deg of change!

The MB number is 123-352-07-65, you need either 2 OR 4.
