got my mates 1986 230 petrol estate,head gasket gone, radiator symbol light on dash came on, now car wont let me start it, or come out of drive, anyone out there ever have anything like this happen to them,grateful for any help, kieran :confused:

Could the engine have seized? Did the temp gaugego into the red?

no switched engine off at key, only had car running for about a minute, wouldnt come out of drive, owner has never had a problem with box, very strange, got me puzzeled no end, all help appreciated, thanks

Obvious things first. You can only start the engine in Park or Neutral, I believe, which is why it won't start in Drive. As for the rest of it, can you give some more details?
