Another Wiper Problem - Please help

This is my third try on this. I have a 450SL 1980. The first position on the wiper does nothing. The second is slow speed, the third is fast speed. Can anyone tell me where the problem is with the intermittent speed (first position) and how to fix it. Any help would be apprecitated.

Thanks,
Jim

I am having the same problem and as I understand it there is a relay that is the likely culprit. They are not cheap so it has been suggested that you try and find another MB with the exact same relay (check the part number first) and test it out before buying a new one. My car is going into the shop on Friday and I hope that I can test one from the dealership prior to buying it.

Good luck!

Where is the relay?

Does anyone know where this relay is?

Hi

Same problem on my 1979 450SE. Also, wipers do not self-park at the end, but just stop when you turn the switch. I thought these were both the same fault, and I can't figure it.

Any help appreciated.

**Usually** non parking is a grounding problem.

I don't know if it's any different for the R107, but on the W124 it's the combination relay. Wipers won't park in this mode either, so you have to turn the switch to the other speeds and then off to get them to park.

It's an expensive relay (Paid $124 last summer for the W124 replacement) because it is a "combination" relay...controls the defrost too.

On the W124, the relay is located in the engine compartment fuse box. Most likely location on the R107 as well.

Actually, I think the Combination Relay is located in a box behind the fuse box (the Relay box). There should be three columns of Relays and I believe that there are three Relays in this column. The top two should be about the same size. The larger Relay should be the Combination Relay.

For my car the dealership said they thought they had a used one that I could borrow so that I could verify this was the problem before I spent $124.

Good Luck!
