New vs old ML
I have a 99 430 ML and certainly over the years it has had its' share of problems, a lot due to the initial quality control, and now at 66k miles with a new harmonic balancer, and fuel pump, it is running fine except for a CEL that the codes really can't descern the problem....yet.
The question is after 6 years I would like to get a new ML. Should I get the current 2005 ML, now at a very good price, almost invoice.... hoping the bugs have been removed and it is now a quality reliable truck, OR, should I wait 3 months and get the new revised ML, taking into account 1st year out, higher price, bugs to be worked out, etc etc. Thank you for any sage advice. I think there's no question that the new ML will be better as far as up-to-date styling and ride and handling dynamics are concerned. As you pointed out, a first year vehicle from any manufacturer is a crap shoot at best. The latest ML will almost certainly be more trouble free than the new ML and definitely better than your early version.
However, the current ML will be quite dated in looks and driving dynamics when compared with the soon to be introduced replacement, so it's up to your priorities I guess.. |
My questions with the revised M-Class are related to its specs: Does it have the 5,000 lb. towing capacity, the weight carrying capacity, equivalent cargo space, is it built as an SUV and 20+ mpg mileage?

Keep in mind that the new ML will be a unibody construction...not sure if that's important to you or not...
