Differential cross reference - ASR equipped e320
I need a new rear for a ASR equipped 95 E320 wagon. Will any 124 dif fit? Or do I need an ASR equipped one.
Will I need any special tools to remove/replace the unit. I would like to replace the bushings while I'm there. Thanks Alan |

Ha, you and me both! What do you have, the whining noise?
I'm pretty sure you have to stick with the ASR version, it has a contact port built into the casting at the pinion shaft area, don't know how you would make the car function correctly without reinstalling the ASR connector from the electrical/computer system. I would think you would set off a malfunction code right away if that connector was not reinstalled into the correct diff. Maybe I'm wrong. The consensus here is to go looking at a reputable salvage yard first. Its too cold for that right now, so I'm going to wait about 2 months.

diff
if you both send me your vin numbers to the address below, i will check and see if they will interchange with a standard 124, i will also be able to cross reference the numbers and tell you which other models have a compatible differential.
