SL 129 brake discs

Got info to go to DIY for changing the discs and the pads on my 300SL only to find no information pertaining to this car!!
Would someone please advise?
Also wish to repack the front wheel bearings this time, to me this is very important!!
Thanks so much

Rotors and pads are easy to do. Pads are held in place on pins. Just tap them out with a blunt nail or a punch. The caliper is held on with 2 bolts--maybe 17 or 19 mm which comes off to get the rotor disk off. You will need a C-Clamp or Brake Disk Pad Spreader to squeeze the piston back into the caliper to accept new pads. Remove the filler cap on the fluid reservoir so pressure can be relieved, just wrap some wrags around the reservoir so fluid will not overflow. Sometimes the disk can be rusty where it mets the hub and liberal sprays of PB Blaster or some other bolt loosening spray is needed (not WD40). I've used a pry bar sometimes as it can be really stuck on. The disk is held on to the hub with one small allen wrench screw--metric. Once this is removed just wiggle the disk until it slides off. I've taken the disks for turning at a local garage before for about $20, but you can get two new ones for about $70 from http://www.***************. I bought my pads locally at a Car Quest using their "Premium Gold". They were expensive, but came with a lifetime warranty which I have taken advantage of several times, but I travel a lot for business and can go thru pads quickly. AZ ******** has Textar brand for $24 and Pagid Brand for $53. (No lifetime guarantee on these, but I'd expect to get 30,000 miles from them) I'm not sure what this job costs at the dealership, but you will save LOTS of money by doing it yourself. Good luck--John
