hood hinge replacement

i have a 1984 300-d 4- door sedan ( 123 chassis ) with a bad left hood hinge i want to replace both pieces, the hinge itself and the hood support.
the only problem is one of the pieces looks like it goes behind the fender
i cant tell how it's fasened.
is there any easy way to remove and replace this piece wiyhout removing the fender ?
thanks

It's not clear what exactly you are refering to?

There is a bolt which can be seen in pocket which hold the hinge-that's the farthest aft conenction.

Do you have the hinges yet? I don't know the current prices.... but I've got a hinge for a W123 if you are interested?

Remove the wheel and the fender liner and you will have access to the bolt. The fender liner is plastic or rubber and has four bolts, three in the side and one on the bottom at the back. Be careful as the fender liner may be brittle after all of these years. Replacement liners are about $100 give or take a few dollars. Good luck.

I didn't think you could get at it from below-

I assumed you remove the bonnet, then maybe break it loose with a long highquality wrench- offset box end(?). Then I've heard somewhere of using a gear wrench.

I'm just assuming that was from above-maybe they were from below. Seems like that is boxed by metal on the bottom. What does the Mercedes manual say??

If he had the manual I suspect that he would not be asking us. Try it my way No harm-no foul.
