I upgraded my stock 16" weels/tires on my 92 500sl to
18.5 sl 2pc and Dunlop 900 sport 245/40zr18 on all
four wheels. Since then, I've had all weels balanced
and 4 wheel allihnment performed atleast once. I know
the lower profile tires will make me feel more of the
road but it also seems more difficult to steer/control
the vehicle over abnormal road conditions. Road bumps
or un even roads can make the car feel like it wants to go one way one minute and the other way the next.

Is this normal because of the tire upgrade or is it
something else.

Thanks again for the help!!! You and this page are AWESOME!!!

Have you check your tire pressure? The shorter tire side wall combined with wider contact patch will give a more nervous steering. One way to reduce this nervousness is to either lower the front tire pressure and/or raise the rear tire pressure. Don't lower the pressure below Mercedes recommendation. Let us know if this help. Good luck.

thanks for the reply...I should've stated that all tires
are at 30 psi...both front and rear. Ill double check to
be sure and then see if raising the rears to 33 will help.
thanks again!!
