W201 engine mounts
My 1992 180e's engine is in a million pieces at the moment while the head and block are machined after a gasket ka-blammo, and i was thinking this was as good a time as any for the engine mounts to be replaced. I meant to get it done earlier but the shaking isnt too serious, just mildly irritating. Is this going to be another super duper rare and costly mercedes part that has to be ordered from some village outside Dusseldorf or something?
while we're on it, what else should i get him to look at while hes got the engine out? Obvioulsy he's replacing the head gasket and i asked him to replace all the hoses aswell. Anything else? I was thinking a compression test would be a good idea too, but id assume he'd do that when he gets it all together again. |
Well it sure is a pain in the *## to change the pan gasket when its in the car and if you have the money theres no time like the present.
I'm just winning because I have to change the one on my 2.6 and wish the motor was out. |
Maybe check your valve guides and seals. Would be a real bummer for him to put the head back on and then you start burning oil some months down the road.
The engine mounts are like USD60-100. You need 2. |
ouch. well i might aswell get him to order them, i only really needed the left one but no harm replacing both. Good idea with the valve guides and seals tho, i'll definately get him to check that.
Damn mercedes parts! I htink im going to have to take out another loan from the International Bank of Dad..... :D |
