Hey everyone, my new hood pad came in for my 1989 300E.

I know that the side with the metal shield goes down, but what should I use to secure the hood pad to the hood? Any special type of gule?

3M 8090 Super Trim Adhesive. Don't even think about using anything else. Most adhesives won't hold up under the heat. 8090 is made specifically for hood pads. Available at most chain auto parts stores, around $15. One can is just enough.

Dont be a dunce like me -----cover the windshield before spraying the adhesive on the hood - there is a natural wind tunnel phenomenon that happens through the opening at bottom of hood

Thanks to all of you, will pick it up, do it and post before and after pictures.

I also found it helpful to keep the hood in the full-vertical position overnight to keep the pad from sagging while the adhesive dried.

Good point.

I use a small air mattress for the hood to close on...seems t' work fer me !
