Hi all,
I'm about to change the front shocks on the car what do you recommend Bilsteins or Sachs/Boge they are both about the same price. The car has been lowered approx 45mm the rear shocks were changed before I bought the car but I have replaced the springs. Also is this a an easy job to do I'm thinking of changing them myself. Bobby,
These are not difficult to replace if you're careful and have a floor jack. I recommend the Bilstein performance struts. Make sure you inspect the upper mount while it's apart. Good luck, |

It all depends who you ask. However, I replaced mine with Bilstein HD and I am happy with the results. Since you lowered your car, you may want to get the "performance" or "sport". BTW, I changed the struts myself but, I do have access to a lift which made the job easier. I borrowed the spring compressor from AUTOZONE. Do a alignment after the replacement.
Good luck.

. . .I would stick with the Bilsteins. After crawling all afternoon under my ' new ' 300CE, I see the previous owner had fitted Bilstein HD's and the ride is just a sweet as it gets.. !

I'm sorry to disagree, but changing your front shocks(struts) does not require any front end adjustment of any kind, unless you change some other parts.
Good luck, |
