Loose ignition wire...ticking noise
I have a 300E. I was checking washer fluid while my car was running, and I noticed that the ignition wire on the left side of the engine closest to the front was ticking, I felt the wire and it was loose, i was able to move it around more than the other wires. Why is that? How do i fix this? is the wire bad? I tried twisting it back in, but it remains loose.
Is the sparking plug loose?

The ticking could be a spark jumping from the wire to the engine. Have a look a night, with no light under the hood, you might see a spark.
Be careful, if you grab the wire near a break and the engine is runnin, you could get the 20,000 volts that were meant for the spark plug. Quite a nasty jolt! Best Regards, Jim |
