Provenence of 107 116 engine.

Afternoon peoples....

Customer sent me an engine he found in Colorado.
Seller said it was a Duplex Chain motor.

Arrived over the weekend...pulled v/cover....opppss, simplex chain !

Seller said it was a 1984 107 chassis motor. :)

Motor number as follows : 116 960 009503.

Condition is iffy....broken oil pan (Rear bulge. )
Nicked pully face, chipped.
Very dry cam lobes.
Duct Tape sealing off Intake is aged and powdery. :toilet:

Can anyone shed some light on this motors real age.
I think new owner will bite the bullet and I'll rebuild it.
He seems to have forgotten to put oil on his motor after changing the oil which is why we are looking to this engine as a replcement.
Old engine busted up the cams/valves/ chain/cam towers and crank bearings.
NOT a pretty sight.

Thanks folks...

Motor I.D.

:rolleyes2 What you have there, according to a listing of engines by Metric Motors - (rebuilders) is indeed a single row chain 116 out of the '81-'82 380SL.
