Unhappy 96' E320 Lower Control Arm Bushings

I just noticed the lower control arm bushings on my E320 are cracking. Any advice on whether this is something a "shade tree" mechanic can tackle? Are there any instructions out there that can give me some guidance on how to take apart the control arms to remove/replace the bushings? Is there anything else that I ought to change out while I'm getting at this job?

The car is a '96 E320 with 52,000 miles. thanks
