Cheap Mercedes Parts!...
Hey does anyone know where to get cheap Mercedes parts from? Any online sources? and also does anyone have a great hook up for used parts?
Also I live in canada, so I was wondering if anyone knows about any canadian sources also? So everyone let me know where you get the best bang for your parts bucks. Thanks |
Man, I am sick of hearing of those stupid people who think that a 50,000 to 200,000 dollar car never needs maintance! Scary world we live in.
|
well its not really the consumers fault
Its not really the consumers fault. I blame mercedes and there sales people for people thinking mercedes don't need regular maintence. Mercedes till the early 90's told people there car's were engineered to be better then any other brand. They also claimed there car's required the least amount of service, even though when the service was needed it cost an arm, leg, and HEART!....But when mercedes told people there car's don't need a tune up for the first 100 000km's, that was scary enough to think people would take a risk like that on a 70 000 dollar car. As far as mercedes is concerned, poor maintence doesn't affect there bottom line at all, since all damage that will occur on a brand new car for neglecting maintence is after the warrenty period when there paying, so in the end, the consumers left with a lemon. Go to a dealership, Mercedes sales people will tell you, these car's run forever, never break down, and when they do, the maintence is cheap....and never nothing major........$15 000 dollars of my own money later, my car still needs 9000 in repairs....and my car got all the proper service on time.

good point, i stand corrected! :)

just for the record, it is against the law to sell used brake parts, just ask any wrecking yard

Parts to Canada
Hi Fastlane does not ship to Canada, they apparently have experienced negative results from CDN Customs in the past.
I get good service from: www.*********************** and their prices seem OK as well as prompt shipping. I found buying locally here too expensive ie: I was quoted CDN$44 ea for the two "sway bar link fittings". After a week!! they phoned back because they could not supply. I was glad because I found the same fittings from http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/smittys for US$8.75 ea, I recieved my order within 7 days. Dick |
The site Richard just mentioned is at:
http://www.aplusparts.com I have found them to be 10%-20% cheaper than most if not all other WEB sellers. They are reliable and sell first rate OEM stuff. I've never had a problem with them. |
Hey thanks for the hook ups...
Hey guys, thanks for all the sites. I was checking all the sites, seems like a little price fixing is happening. I checked the site http://www.aplusparts.com
out, and I am surprised that there prices are few dollars cheaper on many things. But for the American customers, you have to spend min of 75 dollars with them to get free shipping. So I guess they might be trying to keep all the lower ticket items under the 75 dollar price to avoid them having to pay for shipping. Lastly, I'm shocked there's so many American parts companies with Online sites, yet I havn't found a Single good Canadian one. I called customs canada, and I've been told, if I order parts from the US, I will be charged duty for them if they are not manufactured in either the US or Mexico....like come on this is a mercedes, most of the parts are from europe....maybe that's why the parts are so expensive... |
Try
http://www.***************/index.html They will ship ground to canada so your not stuck with UPS. Jorg |
second autohauzaz... although rusty says he will match any prices..

Just for interest, there may be a US customs broker near you that will accept packages on your behalf for a reasonable fee, then you motor over and pick it up yourself. There's an outfit in Calais ME that works really well for this (Derringer). I'll leave it to your conscience how you get the goods home from there. It would be possible to simply mail it on from the nearest US post office too, your choice of declaration details. ;) |
I live on Zero Ave.
I live in the greater Vancouver area, right near the American boarder at 0 Ave. When I look across the street, I see the US. To bad, I can't just drive my mercedes parts over without paying duty. For some reason customs never beleived me last time I told them I recieved a BMW spare wheel as a gift from a relative, since I was in need. So the moral of the story is, if you ever go to the US, strip your car down, and reload it with new parts and then drive back, and heck tell them you went to fill gas. Also lastly, I don't know if this happens to anyone else, or just me. But I think the US oil companies send the bad batch of gas to the northern cities where the canadian come to buy cheap american gas, or the gas station owners are doing something not right. I've been to the Blaine Washington and Sumas Washington area's a couple times and filled up with Premium gas, only to have my car feel gutless, and trouble starting the next few days while the gas is in my tank. When I complained to my mechanic last time, his theory was, the additives might be different in the US, and thus causing problems, and he told me to avoid US gas. However, I go to bellingham and seattle often and that gasonline has never given me problems. One of my friends has also complained about the same problem. I wonder if its just werid odd luck, or something is up.

Mercedes are Expensive in Europe?
Mercedes are Expensive in Europe??? Last time I went to germany, most cars, all busses, trucks, heavy trucks, you name it, if it had 4 wheels it was mercedes. But there expensive for parts???? I thought the Mercedes brand was like getting parts for a Pontiac in North America? While I know its not no Geo Metro of Europe, I thought no one would complain about Mercedes parts in Europe. If you own a S-Class perhaps the part pricing would be similar to what we pay for Cadillac parts. Then again, mercedes is engineered to be the best in the world...price: arm, leg and heart...

You can compare the prices of any web seller and he'll be cheaper on some items than another web seller, but not on ALL items. aplusparts.com offers individual mfg. selection for a part..ie..Behr or Wahler for the thermostat. At ********, they list Behr/Wahler, but you don't have the option to select which one. They'll send the cheapest one. Been there...no thanks. az's offers shipping for $50 orders vs. aplus' $75, but in the end, it's the "quality" you get that matters. When I order from aplusparts, I know exactly what I'm getting. Forward thinking people look down the road and just don't order 1 oil filter and a set of spark plugs. |
U.s. Prices
Hi,You can believe me herein Eu price for mB are really expensive an exeple? For the outise mirro auto dimmer of may car, just for the mirror they asked me more than 290 US Dollar and for air filter 53 $ also for the MAF.

So I guess if you're set on getting exactly what you ordered from them, you might want to look elsewhere. |

Hey Trueog, you're in B.C., I'm in Ontario. Yes, Canadian Auto Web Dealers are conspicious by the absence! Recently I priced an A.C. Receiver/Dryer for my '84 300SD at the local MB dealership - get this: their price was Can$213.00 plus GST and PST (total of 15%). My sister-in-law who lives in L.A. priced the same part for me at her local MB dealer and was quoted US$74.00 !! BTW., I had always thought that Mercedes was a signatory to the Can/US Auto Agreement. Did Canada Customs indicate how much percent duty would apply on non- North American made parts (probably 15%)? And, would we have to also pay 7% GST? |
canadien complaints
Just for the record, last time I bought gaoline in Canada, there was a LOT of water in that imperial gallon! Abe G

I live in Canada as well, and whenever I fill up in Detroit, my car doesnt like to start well. Its pretty funny that whenever I fill up in Canada, I never have a problem. Then when I fill up in detroit, the car just runs like crap. I added water remover last time and it seemed like it helped a lot.

Hello everybody,
I live in denmark, and I have a old mercedes (1990) and I maintain it my self. I have always maintaind my cars my self, and are now pleased by the sparepart prices for mercedes, they are cheap compared to example VW or american cars for that matter. I also discovered that it is cheaper to buy orginal parts! If you don't believe me try to take a look at this link... http://www.autoimport.dk Its a danish company that sells both new and 2nd. hand parts. The prices are in danish kroner, so a little help is that a dollar costs around 6,5 kroner. An example: http://www.autoimport.dk/images/reservedele/dele/1243300803.jpg costs 50$ (331,- dkr) the same part for a VW golf 1996 costs twice as much So atleast in denmark marcedes parts are cheap. Another thing..... A mercedes needs just as much attention as any other car, don't let anyone tell you different. There is no doubt in my mind that Mercedes makes the best cars in the world, but it you forget to maintain them, they breake down, just as any other car. Its still made from metal, and things turn around inside it just as in any other car, so offcouse it needs to be maintained. |

M.b. Parts
I have found that for used M.B. parts, POTOMAC GERMAN AUTO PARTS is the best...mbpartsonline.com They even guarantee their parts, every part is tested before selling, and they are very reasonably priced. Good luck! JEFF

Something Canadians SHould know
I want all Canadians to know something about buying parts online. I've been doing it for some time now. If you're not saving atleast 40 dollars, Don't even bother with it. I've been buying parts from http://www.*************** and they're prices are cheap, but do the math first.
I ordered a relay off them once for around $60US They charged me for shipping, a good amount considering i'm in canada also. Then it hit customs, since alot of mercedes parts are out sourced to other Euro companies like Bosch, Hella...on and on...you will be charged duty since their made in Europe and not North America. So I was charged $20CND dollars duty! 29.99 CND Brokerage fee! Then they added my total price, 60 US, 20US something Shipping, 20 CND, 29.99 Brokerage fee and added TAXES TO IT! So this little $60 US relay cost me after converstation and government B.S. around $170 bucks CDN. 9 Dollars less what Mercedes asked me for in Canada. Wasn't Worth it. --------- How to avoid it and get best deal! Buy your parts online, ship to American address as many sites provide free american shipping. Then drive across the boarder and meet old friends and family, swap parts, drive home, B.S. Avoided. Its not illeagal, as you are allowed to spend money to repair your car while visiting in the US. No Duty, no Gst, nothing! |

At least you can drive across the border.
Imagine living on an island!!! |
I have Canadian friends who have had orders sent to American friends, who then send the package via US Mail with a declared value declaration of $0. If the package turns up lost, unhappy campers will result, but for the last five or six years,:) .

I too have been doing business with ********az. Was your shipping option by UPS by any chance? From an early experience on EBay, I absolutely will not accept shipping of anything by UPS to Canada. ********az does give you the option to use postal. The difference (for those that may not be aware of this) is in the brokerage process.
UPS within the U.S., and to some extent, within Canada, provides an inexpensive, fast, reliable service. I've had things delivered UPS right to my doorstep in no time flat from Toronto to New Brunswick, never a problem (on-line orders from Future Shop for example). I once had MB floormats delivered to a store near Ellsworth UPS from Chicago so I could pick them up on vacation. Great service. However, once that package crosses the border, they add a HUGE 'brokerage fee', like the $29.00 you quote, add all possible taxes and duty, if in the mood to be real pricks, and hold you to ransom at your door demanding payment in full, or the package goes back to sender! The US Postal system hands it over to Canada Post, they charge $5.00 'brokerage fee', and usually just tax. I've never paid duty on non-NAFTA goods, ever, so I suspect that was a real bad day (for you). I think because of volume, postal packages under $100.00 declared value will go through no fee, no taxes, 9/10 times. UPS packages are scrutinized very closely and assessed maximum charges regardless, because they make their money on this, big time. Oh yes, I agree that buying within Canada is the way to go, but has anyone found a good aftermarket source for MB parts on the internet in Canada, similar to this site or ********az? |
What he said. UPS across the border is a terrible deal and isn't even any faster than parcel service. I get it shipped USPS (United States Postal Service) ground and it gets here about the same time for a fraction of the cost. My wish is that Mercedes Shop would offer this service.

Lordco is a rip off
Don't bother with Lordco for parts on the WestCost in Canada. I have a discount card and its funny how much they charge. A FRAM oil filter, list price, $35...my price with discount is $22.95. Sometimes I get lazy cuz of work and pay this price, rather then drive 30 minutes to the dealer. But the real Mercedes oil filter from the dealership is only, $12.50.
Jetta Cap and Rotor with Discount at Lordco(aftermarket): $55 From VW(oem): $15 Discount cards still don't make a dent. Becareful of Lordco prices, there's many more examples, but usually their deal is not the best deal on Euro stuff. |

I just bought from these guys, very good prices:) On importing parts, the idea is to send to a US postal outlet, and clear it through Canada customs yourself. The savings is huge! UPS and others are making a killing on brokerage fees:eek: |

I've had good experience with BMV in Richmond, BC
BMV AUTO PARTS LTD. 12271 BRIDGEPORT CRESCENT, RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA, V6V 1J4, CANADA. (604) 273 3636. They carry parts for BMW, M-B, and VW...I believe many of the independent shops get their parts from them... |
