Anyone out there have a sketch or copy of vacuum system for 81-300td as my engine won,t turn off, auto gears won,t change&brakes don,t work. Can,t follow the system to find problem.Any suggestions?

Was your car running fine and then all of a sudden started acting up? If so you need to check the vaccuum pump. I don't know exactly where it is on the model, but as you know diesels don't make a lot of vaccuum, therefore MB remedies this with an auxilliary pump, sometimes the rubber diaphram goes bad in them and they fail. I would post this on the Diesel discussion, there are some real experts there that could help. Good luck!

Hi Guys, would you believe I am still having trouble with car.I had new Vac. pump fitted & that solved the brakes problem but the engine still won,t turn off & gears won,t change into 2nd unless engine revved just too much.I live in a small town in countryOZ with one mechanic who I don,t think has even seen a Mercedes never mind work on one!!!The Vac. lines to the ignition and the auto gearbox test OK with a Vac. guage.Has anyone out there any ideas or suggestions to help me. Sounds like you have a big vacuum leak. You just need to check the vacuum system--lots of hoses and joints first. From your description, it sounds like you probably have a disconnected vacuum hose somewhere.

Finally got vehicle going again after many hours of testing vac. lines.You were spot on " Dweller" it was a disconnected line, the one that controls the movement of the headlights up or down.It was hanging loose behind the lights so hooked it back up & everything running like new again.Maybe I didn,t need a new Vac. pump at all???
