I found a pin hole leak in the fuel tank of my '91 350 SDL near the top of the tank. I patched the leak (I will replace the tank when I get a chance, I am still paying for the transmission).

There must have been over a pint of fuel that spilled into the trunk. I have removed all of the carpet and plastic, but I am afraid that fuel has spilled between the cracks and is sitting between the tank and the trunk on the trunk side of the car. Is there any way to get the remaining fuel cleaned up without removing the tank? Could the fuel have seeped under the rear seat? I think that I am slowly poisoning myself on my way to work each morning.

I welcome any suggestions for the cleanup. Thanks

Diesel spill

The early Mercedes(late 50's early 60's)suggested using vinegar to remove diesel odors. It does work, but then you smell like a pickle! Try it.

Re: Diesel spill

Thanks for the tip, I tried it and it smells like the big vat with the plastic lid and the tongs in front of the register at a deli...it is better than diesel in the cabin!
