Occasional starting problems
I'm currently at work and so i Completly apologise for not using the search function so sorry if this problem has occured elsewhere.
Ive recently bought an E280 W124? And i'm having starting problems (similar to this thread: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/109598-help-occasional-starting-failures.html but as i said as i'm at work i cant read it properly and looking at it, it seems like a different problem as mine is an older car 1995. When i try to start the car the engine turns but it doesn't start. I.e i turn the key it makes a noise like it will start but doesn't. If i leave it a while then the car starts but this is far from what i want. I'm not very good with cars and i'm really worried as i've only had the car a fortnight. PLEASE Help! P.S Sorry again for not using search and looking through properly but i have to use the car to get home tonight, and when i tried to start it a minute ago no joy, i'm just hoping when i try later tonight it starts. |
Hi there,
it's not much of information you give. It could be loads of things causing this fault. My guess: faulty K1/2-overvoltage protection relay. It's the sleak silver one with the white plastic top and two fuses in it. It's located next to your battery. We had scores of them replaced due to a cold soulder and even today I see one every now and then. Touch it and let somebody turn the key to pos. II. You should feel it clicking every time you turn the key. If you catch it while the car isn't starting you got it. All the best, Dokta |
