Hi all,
I have a lingering front trans seal leak - drip, drip, drip... which I top up when needed. What I'm wondering: is the compromised seal more likely to blow completely, presumably leaving me with a rebuilt trans bill? TIA, -Nick |
Don't think so Nick. Not under any real pressure. Take heart, it will get worse over time.

Holy smokes, Jeff - 3 minutes for a reply!
Thanks, and yes, it does get worse over time... |
Nick, please don't let anyone talk you into trying a trans sealer. Bad for the internal o-rings and piston seals. Bite the bullet and try to get it fixed. Most of the cost is labor, which, by the way, is worth it if you love your car and trust your tech (or yourself) :D :D :D

It is likely the front seal but check the converter drain plug first.

Thanks for the hints. It has been positively identified as the front seal by 2 dealerships - oh well...
