Someone please tell me how to remove the horn cover

Hello,

I need to remove the horn / airbag cover on my steering wheel (210) as something is rattling inside there and driving me crazy. How does this thing come off? I tugged on it a little last night but didn't want to get too forceful with it.

Based on my experience with the w124, there are two allen head bolts that hold it on, and they can be reached from the back of the steering wheel. Find the openings (one on each side) & insert the allen key ( l think you will need either 3 or 4 mm size) & turn.

Thanks Richard,

I noticed those holes and was wondering if they were related. I'll let you know what I find.

airbag bolts

they are torx, size T30, if you want the correct tool for the job give mercedes a call and ask them to get you tool number 126-589-00-10-00
it is about 7cm in length, a standard torx is not long enough to reach in far enough to loosen the torx bolts. not very expensive $5-$10

Be very sure to disconnect your battery before putting the Torx wrench in the hole.

In the absence of a T30 torx one can use a 6mm allen if careful.

Just curios why do you say this? Could one uknowingly jump a wire to the air bag?

Sounds like you know something from experience.
