Recently purchased a silver/gray 560SEL. Have not taken posession of the vehicle but would like to know the color code of the exterior. Ex. Arctic white - 147.

Attached is the VIN plus color... I hope someone can help me find this out. Thanks

Whereas I don't know the name of the color, I can say that if you can get a pic of the plate up near the center of the radiator, you can find out the color code and all the other codes for the options on your car.

I know about this.. but I am trying to figure it out with the info presented. I don't have a picture of the top of the radiator. Is it possible to find out?

Perhaps Mr. Steve Brotherton or someone with access of some sort that gets these type of info?

Thanks for the reply

I didn't think the VIN number provided information about body or interior color, but that information was on the data plate on the radiator support. The VIN will tell you the country of origin, location of the factory, general type of engine, production number, etc.

Here is a Data Card for your car

Data Plate

The paint code is on the data plate above the radiator...it will be the only 3 diget number followed by either G or H. The G and H are the 2 suppliers of the paint at that time to Mercedes. This will work up into the 90's from at least the 60's... Someone out there can give you one of the paint sites for Mercedes paint codes...A hacker messed up my computer and i have to find all those sites again and I will....Jim

Myarmar.. Larry, thank you both for your help.

Myarmar.. what exactly is this file you sent? Seems interesting, but I am not getting much out of it. Whats are these codes signifying?

Larry.. is this the correct name for the color? Also, how did you find out what my interior color and optios are?

Thanks again

After reading a bit more.. the color code is "122". The reason for my curiousity is because at first I thought it was "smoke silver"... but the close up showed its not. So I had no clue. Doing a search on "122" shows that mostly w124's had it.

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/5350/mbcodes.htm

This site shows that only w124 has the 122 option? Can this be right?... I guess not as I own a w126. Anyone else with this color.. or seen another in the same color?

Hi Roman.. I wish it was this warm, but its not. Its not even a typical Polish winter. Its hovering for the past week in the -1 to +1* C ( 30-33* F) range and it finally snowed here for the first time this winter! Its not too bad... not too different than what you would expect in Ohio at this time of year.

Also.. thanks for the vin # you provided. Putting in the normal US doesn't work... but I see you turned it into a "Euro" vin. Very cool!
