Compact EPC CDROM - I have original, need to back it up!

Hey all, I have an original copy of the W123 EPC compact CDROM (it comes on 1 cd and runs on all platforms without any hassles at all).

Thing is, it's SO valuable to me I treat it like gold-dust.

Is there a way to make a one-time backup copy, and use that instead?

I use it on my laptop, down in the garage for example. I'm sure the copyright (or it's spirit!) wouldn't be infringed at all?

I have used Roxio disc-copy, it installs, but doesn't load up. SO I'm thinking MB have placed a copy protect routine on it to stop people copying and distributing. This is something I wouldn't do, I just need to ENSURE my copy is safe! I can't bear the throught of losing access to it!

anyone any bright ideas or URL's to cheap programs I can use? I'n new to all this!

cheers!

you can try cdrwin and do a 1:1 copy that may work....

You could also try a program called virtual cdrom, and copy it to the hard drive as an image and load the image in a virtual cd drive when you want to use it that may work too and access will probably be a bit faster...

Making a backup copy of any of your CDs for personal use will not incur the wrath of the manufacturer of said CD. Selling copies is another matter. Roxio will copy nicely unless there is copy protection on the disc. In that case, look for a copy of CloneCD online, as well as the crack for it at astalavista. Since CloneCD has been removed from the market, I suspect nobody will kick up a fuss over you using a cracked copy. It will copy regardless of copy protection. Then there's some command line utilities that come with Linux...
