HELP! quick question about removing battery!
car is a 1990 190E 2.6
how do you remove the batter from the tray? it looks like something is holding it down, but I can't find what or where the "latch" is! do I need to slide the battery left or right or do I just apply gorilla force? thanks! |
At the bottom of the battery you will find a 13mm bolt and retaining plate. :)

bottom? is this accessible without having to lift or tilt the battery, which I can't because I guess that 13mm bolt is holding it down? is it on the neg or pos side? I don't remember seeing any retaining clip when I looked, but then I didn't look too hard. thanks.

Battery removal
There is a 13mm bolt securing a plate at the base of the battery toward the front of the car, it is not on the negative or positive side. The bolt only needs to be loosened enough for the retaining plate to slide over (toward the front of the car) as it has a slotted hole. The bolt can be best accessed using a ratchet with a extension.

Basically, look at the middle of the battery, and look straight down the front face. You'll see the plate.

thanks, guys! changted the battery today, and it was quite straight forward. I did find the nut that the latch and bolt go on, but they were missing, I guess the battery was held in place by it's sherr weight. I got an interstate with 75 month warr. for $102 (after tax and all that). I do get a $4 refund when I return my pld batt. and I also get a $10 rebate from online!
