On my '94 E220 I have a problem with the warning light in the instrument cluster telling me that one (or more) bulb(s) are broken.

When one or more bulbs are broken, the warning light is functioning as it should.

When every bulb in the car is OK, I start the engine and turn on the lights. After 2-3 seconds, the warning light starts to light.

Is there a control module that has to be replaced and where can I find this module?

Gunnar

Control Accuator

I had this same problem. First check to see that you have all the correct watage bulbs in all the lights - an inappropriate wattage bulb could cause the sensor to turn on. In my case, the warning light would come on when I turned on the fog lights. There is a control unit that needed to be replaced - about $280. Probably a little steep, yet I was happy that the warning light does not come on anymore.

Does this happen when you step on the brake pedal. If so check the extra stoplight in the rear window. Sometimes we forget this light. it will kick off the sensor circuit if it's out.

You can narrow the search down by doing a step by step light activation sequence. The indicator only lights after that circuit is energized.
So start with brakes, signals, back up, etc. until
the warning comes on. It will be narrowed down to that circuit.
