Wiper won't park
I have a problem in that the monowiper on my '93 190D won't park when switched off. Have searched several threads but haven't seen a reference to this problem. So I have a wiper that wants to continue wiping even in "off" position, only remedied by removing the fuse. Anyone got any wise words??

it sounds to me like the problem is not that the motor won't park, but won't stop at all so maybe it is the pod switch to blame. Whenever I had a wiper that would not park it would simply stop at the point in its cycle where I shut it off, that was a different problem than you are describing though.

Thanks, Marty. I initially thought it was due to coppering-up of the grease in the stalk switch itself, but cleaning and even replacing hasn't cured the problem! Just hope someone can shed some light.....

Maybe the wiring at the motor itself is to blame then? It should be easy to check to see if 12V is present at the motor connector from the pod switch and eliminate that if it is shutting off.
Since the wiper's parking system has 12V applied to it even when the pod switch is in the off position I guess it is possible that a short in the parking switch mechanism could apply power to the motor at all times...again I am just giving my best guess but have you opened up the motor itself and inspected the park switch? Usually when I have seen these fail on other cars they fail so the motor just stops where you shut it off, but I suppose it is very possible that the park switch mechanism could keep the motor running too if the park switch was stuck closed.

WIPER WON'T PARK (chapter 2): Had some rain today, so had to re-fit the wiper fuse (This had been the only way to stop it wiping). After about 10 minutes it started behaving normally!! ie. intermittent/slow/fast & OFF positions of the switch now working correctly again!! Still none the wiser, but happy!!
