oxygen sensor shorted to ground Code 17

I have a 1990 500sl. check engine light keeps coming on. Counting the flashs it reads 17. I believe code 17 is oxygen sensor shorted to ground???. I can reset and the code will appear again in a day or so. I have replaced the o2 sensor. Car seems to run good. No driveability problems. Just this check engine light. Help
