95 c280 Climate control problem
I searched the archives and didn't see anything close so any help would be appreciated- Started the car one morning and noticed the climate control had switched from F. to Celsius. thought hmmmm thats strange- being winter time drove the car with defrost on and everything seemed to work- blew warm air, switched between outlets etc.. Next day was much warmer and tried to get the AC to work- no go. the compressor isn't coming on at all- not even trying.. Thinking electrical gremlins I have checked all the fuses I can find, disconnected battery for a few minutes, scanned for codes etc.. It's almost like the climate control is set to a european car with no AC. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance..

It is possible that the A/C/C pushbutton has lost it's version codong.
ALSO possible for YOU to re-version code that unit thru the pushbutton.

M.B. doc-
Thanks for the reply, I saw where the svc manual is now available from the dealer, would that cover how to recode it? Thanks |

On my 96 C280, the sequence to reset the climate control module is as follows: Set the temp to "LO". Turn off the ignition. While holding the "REST" button, turn on the ignition(do not start the engine). Release the "REST" button. "00P" will appear in the display. At this point you can push the fresh air button to cycle through 15 codes. To exit, push the "EC" button. Start the car normally. I don't know what the different codes do. I use the default 00P and it seems to do the trick. If this doesn't work you could try setting one of the other codes. I learned this trick because every 1 or 2 weeks my "EC" light comes on shutting down my A/C. Resetting brings it back. I think it is a problem with the evaporator temp sensor which I'll deal with someday. Good Luck,

IF the new CD doesn't cover that I can fax that info if needed.
The scanned file is too large for a private message(here) but could be e-mailed thru normal channels.

Forp and Mb Doc... Half way there ! --- I reset it by going into p00 and then exiting out and the compressor came back on in def and auto mode.. And it's putting out cold air. Still reading in Celsius. At least now the windows won't be as foggy.. MB doc- I found the startek site and subscribed and found how to change the version- which should mine be? thanks again!
