Third Brake Light Removal on 2000 E320 Wagon
I've read applicable forums and believe that my center brake light may not be working because of a broken wire. I've removed the interior trim but can't see how the light comes out. Anybody have any hints or suggestion?
Thanks in advance, |

3rd brake light
when you say trim, did you mean the carpet on the door hatch? if that is removed then you will see two little tabs at the base of the lamp, squeeze them toreateher and pull slightly back on the unit. i just did one this morning, and the carpet cover is very tricky to get back on correctly.

Yes, I meant the carpet panel along the top of the hatch. Thanks for the info regarding the two tabs. As I remember there are 4 cut outs spaced along the length of the light, I looked for tabs to push or pull. Now knowing that there are two of them that need to be pushed together, I'll give it a shot this afternoon. Again, thanks for the info.
