Loose rear view mirror on W210
I'm looking over the procedure for fixing the crappy rear view mirror on a W140
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/42656-w140-rear-view-mirror-replacement.html Has anyone tried this on a W210? I'm trying to figure out how to seperate the mirror from the car. There is what feels like a metal plate where the mirror joins the roof- I've taken out the dome lamp, but can't quite figure out how to actually remove the morror and base. Any ideas? |
The complete mirror will PULL from its mounting as it is spring loaded to the base.
Repair will be similar to the W140 car |
Thanks for yout help!
Just so I don't wind up destroying anything, please help me clarify- 1.) remove the dome light 2.) grab the stem that joins the mirror assembly to the roof 3.) pull really hard 4.) disconnect the electrical connections Is that it? |
Careful when you pull it loose. There's not a lot of play in the wires. You don't want to rip the connectors/wires off.
Good luck. |
Fixing the rearview mirror of a R129 SL 500
Like most of the DIY'ers of this forum, I fixed my mirror with Velcro which is much more forgiving than using a permanent adhesive fix since you can adjust it if it isn't straight, etc.
However, I would like to know if somebody can fix my autodimming feature since i'm constantly getting blinded by people behind me and have to adjust the rearview mirror down or up. Is this a common problem with the autodimming feature with MB's since my 2001 Volvo had this feature and it worked fine. If somebody has the schematics or is able to figure out how to fix this feature I would certainly be interested since I don't have $800-900 for a rearview mirror :sun_smile |
